Psalm 46:10 He
says, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the
nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
Habakkuk 2:20
But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence
before him.
Zechariah 2:13 Be
still before the LORD, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy
dwelling."
Zephaniah 1:7 Be
silent before the Sovereign LORD, for the day of the LORD is near. The LORD has
prepared a sacrifice; he has consecrated those he has invited.
We live in a society that requires all of our attention to
be focused on little screens….we’ve gotten to be proficient and multi-tasking. Training
yourself to be still is not considered to be a viable life skill…I want to take
you to task on this way of thinking….to be still is the ONLY life skill!
It may appear
difficult to learn how to wait in quiet with a patient heart, the flesh is a
noisy beast and very difficult to bring under subjection but if you learn to do
so, your efforts will be rewarded. We then learn that we become at peace and
then we look forward to the communion with God in silence.
