Colossians 2:6 -8 Therefore
as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been
firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just
as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. See to it that no
one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the
tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather
than according to Christ.…
Romans 8: 28 – 30 And
we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love
God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He
foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so
that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He
predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and
these whom He justified, He also glorified.…
Colossians 1:15 The
Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
God’s plan has always been to form and fashion you in the image of His
son.
What does that image look like? Like Jesus!
2 Corinthians 4:4 The
god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see
the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of
God.
Hebrews 1:3 The
Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being,
sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification
for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
Don’t confuse your
desire to be God, taking your position on the throne, with becoming godly. It is the job of the Holy Spirit
job to produce character in you. Becoming Christlike is not a matter of
imitation but of letting the Holy Spirit inhabit. Effort has nothing to do with
your salvation but it does promote growth…do not confuse works with faith.
Ephesians 4:12-14 …for
the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the
body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the
knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature
which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to
be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of
doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;…
1 John 3:1 -3 See
how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called
children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us,
because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God, and it
has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will
be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. And everyone who has
this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.…
