Leveling the Playing Field – May 15, 2015

Romans 3:23     for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Ecclesiastes 7:20     Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins.

Genesis 8:21     The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.

There is no one person that needs the blood covering of Jesus more than another. The crucifixion was an act for ALL. There is no magic formula or secrets, we must come to God on equal terms, each person must find their way. We cannot write a check to get in. We can’t work to get in. We must trust in the fact that the work was done on the cross.

Too many people are striving for holiness through works. What we need to focus on is the fact that we are fallen and we can and will only be perfected in the second coming. You cannot perfect the flesh because our flesh has enmity with the things of God; you can dress it and paint it in any justification or rationalization of your choosing it will not line up.

Believers tend to focus on the trivial – majoring in minors so to speak…meaning we lose focus with Godly purpose and inspiration. We stop sharing our faith. We stop serving or we do it in very scripted and rote ways.

Don’t substitute works for faith….don’t mistake piety for holiness…Christ is the only righteousness that God will accept.
