Here in Texas, it can get very dry and stay that way for a
long time. Many plants that grow well in the wet spring wither and die because
they aren’t drought resistant. But there are always some plants that continue
to grow no matter how long drought lasts because their roots grow deep and
reach down to sources of water underground. This allows them to endure the
worst droughts.
In life, we often face a similar situation. When life is
good, we can sometimes forget how much God does for us. It is only when we have
problems — the “droughts” of life — that our faith is truly tested. If our
faith in God is shallow, when the going gets tough, our faith does not grow.
But if we have a deeply rooted relationship with God, then we can endure any
problem this world can bring.
With this kind of faith we know that God is with
us even when we are facing the worst circumstances. No matter what, God’s
living water runs deep and never fails.
