Ephesians 4: 14 -16
14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there
by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men,
by craftiness in deceitful scheming; 15 but speaking the truth in love, we
are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, 16 from
whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint
supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the
growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
Peter 2: 2 Like
newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in
your salvation,
2 Peter 3:18 But
grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be
glory both now and forever! Amen.
I just read the story about a little boy who fell out of the
bed. When his mother asked him what happened, he answered " I don't know.
I guess I stayed too close to where I got in."
Growth is the course and goal for every believer. Maturation
is a mandatory requirement. If a baby ceased to thrive and develop, the parents
would be concerned right? Medical attention would be sought right? A child's failure to thrive indicates that
there is a problem. The same hold true
for a believer. If you are where you were a few months ago, if your testimony
hasn't changed, you might want to be careful and take a look at what's going
on. Get a spiritual physical, a checkup.
The first thing you should check is your habits. Whereas
it's easy to spot the glaringly bad habits, can you recognize the good habit?
Here are four habits that should be a part of your regular
routine:
1) Prayer - Romans 12:2
2) Study - James 1:25
3) Giving - 1 Corinthians 16:2
4) Fellowship - Hebrews 10:25
Don't make the same mistake as the little boy who stayed too
close to where he got in ....it's dangerous on the edge
