Because He First Loved Us August 19, 2018

1 John 4:19 (NIV)

19 We love because he first loved us.

We love others because God has first loved us. Our Heavenly Father taught us how to love in Jesus. Our Abba Father has given us security and confidence so we can love more fully. Our Holy and Almighty God loved us boldly and sacrificially so we could properly understand and define love. We are not the source of love: God is. We are not the great example of love: God is. We tend to be careful and share our love with only those with whom we want to share it: God's love is expansive and open to all. We love because he first loved us.

Thought for today: Do I understand and respect what it means to be loved?

About me- that's a tough question to answer. I'm a writer first and foremost; I acknowledge and embrace my gift.

This page was created to share my faith and to motivate and encourage others to explore their spirituality and to start a lifelong faith walk. Far too many of us have embraced church messages of can't and condemnation because of short comings and character defects.

In the mid '90's I discovered a place that resuscitated my spirituality and encouraged me to acquire a deeper theological foundation. I was blessed to learn from Bishop Yvette Flunder and it is my fervent prayer that I continue to preach and teach what I learned about the gospel, liberation theology and radical inclusivity.

What I Believe:

Radical Inclusivity is the intentional inclusion of all persons; especially people who have traditionally lived at the margins of society, such as people suffering from substance abuse; people living with HIV/AIDS; same-gender loving people; the recently incarcerated; and sex industry workers.

At the core faith and vision is a mandate from God to proclaim a gospel that is radically inclusive of all persons. The Fellowship defines radically inclusivity as "the intentional inclusion of every person in the community of faith." Inclusivity challenges major fundamental, deep-seated Christian beliefs, doctrines and theologies of the center of society which characterize people on the edge as enemies of God and routinely mistreats, oppresses and excludes people from the community of faith and its institutions. It is my purpose and aim to provide a safe place of refuge for persons who have been wounded by oppressive theologies and to provide a place of nurturing and training for those who feel called to this shared ministry.
