Deep-Rooted Faith December 10, 2015

Read Ephesians 3:13-21

Colossians 2:6-7      Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.…

Galatians 3:26     So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith,

Ephesians 4:1     As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.

Colossians 1:10   so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

Here in Texas, it can get very dry and stay that way for a long time. Many plants that grow well in the wet spring wither and die because they aren’t drought resistant. But there are always some plants that continue to grow no matter how long drought lasts because their roots grow deep and reach down to sources of water underground. This allows them to endure the worst droughts.

In life, we often face a similar situation. When life is good, we can sometimes forget how much God does for us. It is only when we have problems — the “droughts” of life — that our faith is truly tested. If our faith in God is shallow, when the going gets tough, our faith does not grow. But if we have a deeply rooted relationship with God, then we can endure any problem this world can bring.

With this kind of faith we know that God is with us even when we are facing the worst circumstances. No matter what, God’s living water runs deep and never fails.
