Romans 8:26-27 New International Version (NIV)
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our
weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself
intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our
hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit
intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
Sometimes our prayers seem to bounce off the ceiling and
fall to the floor. Other times, we are overcome with emotion and the words of
our prayers can't capture what's in our hearts. Thank God for the assurance
that the power of our prayers is not dependent upon our words, but upon his
grace given us by the Holy Spirit's intercession!
Thought for today:
Am I in the habit of offering flowery and wordy prayers when I know simplicity
is succinct?
