Don’t Settle: Go For Submission - April 7, 2015

James 4:7-8     7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.…

1 Peter 5:6     Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

Romans 8:7      For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot.

James 1:22-26      But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.

If your actions and moods are dictated by worldly or fleshly events and are not a reaction to the probing of the Holy Spirit, then you are responding in a way that give the enemy a foothold. He is trying to use you to get you; planting seeds of destruction in your home, heart and relationship. Be careful of what you allow yourself to receive. Learn to recognize the offerings of the enemy and resist them. His job is to whisper self-destructive messages to alienate you from God.

Don’t allow the enemy access to your ear to lure you with your desires. He is a giver but he is also looking to take you away from God. Anything that is NOT in alignment with the word of God is the enemy trying to establish a foothold.
